Best Indian Food in Niagara Falls: What to Order at The Guru

Visiting the Falls and craving Indian food? Here is what to expect at The Guru Fine Indian Cuisine, the North Indian restaurant at the corner of Victoria Avenue and Clifton Hill that has served Niagara Falls since 2003.

North Indian Cooking, Done the Traditional Way

The Guru’s kitchen focuses on the food of North India, especially Punjab and Delhi. Two things set it apart. First, the tandoori dishes and breads are cooked in a traditional charcoal tandoor, which gives chicken, kebabs and naan a smoky flavour a gas oven cannot match. Second, the signature dal makhani, black lentils finished with butter and cream, is simmered overnight.

What to Order

  • Butter Chicken ($18): tandoori chicken in a creamy tomato and butter gravy. The most popular choice for first-time visitors.
  • Dal Makhani ($17): the house speciality, simmered overnight.
  • Tandoori Chicken ($15): marinated overnight and cooked in the charcoal oven.
  • Biryani ($16–$21): basmati rice slow-cooked with chicken, lamb, goat, shrimp or vegetables, served with raita.
  • Garlic Naan ($7): fresh from the tandoor. Order more than you think you need.
  • Guru Platters ($45–$50): a full meal for two, with tandoori items, a curry, naan and rice. The easiest way to try a bit of everything.

Curries are served on their own, so add rice or naan to your order. Browse the full menu with prices.

Street Food and Indo-Chinese

Beyond curries, The Guru serves Delhi street snacks like samosa chaat, pani puri, bhel puri and dahi puri, plus Indo-Chinese favourites such as chilli chicken, chilli paneer, momos and Manchurian. They make good shared starters for a group.

Vegetarian and Jain Friendly

Vegetarians have plenty of choice: paneer dishes, chana masala, malai kofta, bhindi masala, aloo gobhi, vegetable biryani and a vegetarian platter. Many dishes can be prepared Jain-style and are marked on the menu. See our vegetarian and Jain dishes.
